Being here, I’ve learned the truth: you cannot experience this beautiful city through photos or videos. The architecture, the overwhelming decor, the detailed craftsmanship that makes Paris—it literally pulls you in from the moment you step foot into the city.
Now, I’m not talking about stepping your foot on the metro. That’s a whole different experience in and of itself—me being a small-town girl, I don’t really like the feeling. But once you’re up and walking? The buildings rise up around you like they’re trying to tell you something. Everything is so rich and intentional. It almost feels like the city is wrapping itself around you.
It’s beautiful, but it’s heavy. The design, the history, the scale of it all—it almost suffocates you in the best way. You can’t just glance at things here. You’re pulled into them.
Earlier, while walking after visiting the Jardin du Luxembourg, I wandered into a side street—a quiet one, where the buildings closed in just enough to trap the silence. It felt like a place where the sound of traffic goes to die. The kind of stillness that makes you look up…
Then it kind of just appeared: Église Saint-Sulpice. One second I was in this still, tucked-away alley, and the next, this massive church was right there in front of me. I didn’t even know what it was at first. It wasn’t just the size of it that got me—it was how detailed it was. Like every inch had something going on. I found myself slowing down, then stopping completely, just standing there, taking it in.
It didn’t feel like I was visiting a landmark. It felt more like I ran into something I wasn’t expecting—and it made me pause.
